Textile Art Center (TAC) resource allocation criteria and guidelines

Textile Art Center (TAC) Mission Statement

To develop and expand appreciation and knowledge of quilting and textile arts in a fun, sharing and social atmosphere.

Guiding Principle

Every effort should be made to provide reasonable accommodation to interest groups and members within the TAC that fit the core mission. Priority consideration should be given for groups and activities that welcome a broad cross-section of the membership and for those groups and activities that provide the opportunity for learning and skills growth in the textile arts.

Priorities

  1. Core activities that serve the largest and broadest population of members and support the core mission of the TAC

    1. Social & administrative functions of the group

    2. General tools and equipment used by many of the sub-groups

i. Sewing machines and accessories

ii. Rulers, scissors, rotary cutters, and other sewing notions

    1. Shared/consumable resources that are used by multiple sub-groups

i. Thread, batting, tape, and other materials

    1. Scheduled and monitored open time for members to access TAC resources

  1. Organized interest groups and activities according to

    1. Alignment of the interest group with the core mission of the TAC

    2. Number of regular participants

    3. Structure, frequency and regularity of activities

    4. Space needed

  2. Other groups and activities

    1. Casual groups of members gathering for textile arts related activities

For storage space within the TAC room:

The Equipment Team will provide recommendations to the board based on the established criteria, taking into account requests by the various interest groups. The board reviews and approves the recommendation and has the final authority to make a decision in case of disputes.

For scheduled time using the TAC room:

The Class Coordinators and the Event Coordinator provide recommendations to the board based on the established criteria and at the request of the various interest groups. The board reviews and approves the recommendation and has the final authority to make a decision in case of disputes.
